Yes, more information is always better for the intelligent individual investor. The problem is in the "make-the-numbers" game that so many of the herd play. Any perceived miss of the previously forecast numbers is devastating. This leads company officials to often either sandbag forecasts, or stretch the forecast (or bookings, or sales) to meet expectations. Once this starts, each the numbers for each subsequent quarter are massaged to a greater and greater extent, until reality catches up.
