If your strategy is "buy and hold", then what value is your rambling? Whether the DOW clears a particular price level today or next week or next month has nothing to do with where the DOW will be in 2009. There are zero, I repeat, zero predictors of price performance that are useful in the long term. Pick a long enough time span and one can at least predict that the major indexes will be higher than they are today. That itself is useless to most people, unless they invest only in indexes - which are of course constantly rejigged in their composition, hiding the losing companies that fade away to black. So no, your "information" is not information, it is opinion and an reasonably long time frame, one far enough away that few people will remember your target or you or I. Mind you I still get a chuckle out of Ralph Acampora's mega market predictions at the very top of the bubble. I can predict with certainty that the sun will rise in 2009; that's as far as I am willing to go. My job it to make money in today's market, not 2009's market.
