U-Haul generally doesn't publish statistics by state. Since their ownership structure is so diverse I doubt they even know the information themselves.

People often cite their one-way rates, which you can do just by going to the website.

Right now, it costs roughly $1,400 from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, while Las Vegas to Los Angeles is $200. But that's just a snapshot of two cities.

When we experienced California's last real estate bubble during the late 1980's, the Los Angeles Times carried far more stories about people packing up their car or U-Haul trailer and moving out of state than about people calling the professional movers for $4,000. When people hit hard times, or cash out their homes to retire elsewhere, their first thought is usually not to spend a lot of money on a high-end mover. That business is much more weighted to corporate employees being transferred.
