Bstb, It sounds plausible. It hits on several facts: 1. The administration had no idea what they were doing when they started the war. 2. They are flip-flopping like beached marlins as Middle East "allies" rise and disappear.
War is complex and The White House is simple-minded.

Saddam was a horrible guy, but he was a bulwark between Irani nutburgers and Saudi oil. My best guess is that we kiss democracy goodbye in Iraq, it was always a non-starter, and eventually we'll back another Sunni strongman who is totally different this time because he won't have a moustache. This may come after the forced govt. fails and just before we depart. Bush can do a shoulder shrug and say "if that's what they want."
