It is quite true that Luther did a great work. His hatred for the Jews however was very ungodly. Luther's book "Bondage of the Will" should be read by anyone who professes to know anything about the bible or God. His 'attitude and treatment' of others however made guys like me seem polite and gracious in comparison. When he appeared before the 'church court' he did in fact repent of his ungodly manner of abusing others but refused to repent of anything else... perhaps if he had been more friendly?? - Nah ! As far as wondering if the Jews were really that bad... The Dutch and the Scots are as cheap as the day is long.. The English are so proper they will make you puke.. East Indians will always give you their word.. The Germans are as proud as the day is long.. Never trust a man from China.. Etc etc etc.. Jews always act like intellectuals - even the dumbest Jew thinks he is smarter than you could ever be and Jews are very good with money. I believe their ability to prosper is what men hate. People covet the Jews and when they prosper within a nation more so than the people of that nation - instead of those people learning from them or rejoicing for them - men covet. They turn that covetous nature into utter hatred eventually. Men can hate any race of people and different races have different weaknesses. I am Irish - I come from the land of Ire (anger) The Irish are famous for being ill tempered drunks. I of course do not suffer from any of those tendencies but many of my fellow Irishmen do :-) I suppose the reason the Irish are not as hated is because no one can covet them - they fight among themselves and are, naturally, rarely respected by anyone :-) The sins of the fathers are passed on the children - sins run in families and nations. I find it odd but I have found it to be very true. When you look at Jews in general - they are just as sinful and lost as any nation - but the part that makes people angry is that they honestly believe themselves intellectually and spiritually superior. Christ was put upon the cross by all men throughout all ages as the Lamb - provided by God - as a sacrifice in Isaac's place. Until they realize that Christ is their kinsmen redeemer they will continue to suffer even as they have ever since 33 A.D. America however is just beginning to suffer for her rejection of basic biblical truths as will any nation. Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Israel sees herself as that nation no matter what her spiritual condition - this was the cause of the Babylonian captivity this was the cause of the destruction of the temple in 70 AD indirectly this was the cause of the holocaust. John the Baptist said this: Luke 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. God made from dust the first man - God can from common stones raise up physical sons of Abraham - God is not looking for physical sons God is looking for spiritual sons: John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Jesus said this to the Jews: John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. It amazes me how men will kill other men for what they think. Religious persecution is not about what men do. Millions of 'innocent' Jews were tortured and killed by men who professed to be Christians but... in the same way Jews profess to be spiritual and yet deny Christ as the only true remedy for sin: Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. As Emile has pointed out - much of what is taught as truth among Jews is not from the scriptures they received from God. People fear what Emile says because they know that men everywhere are base and evil and thrive on any reason to hate any nation. The Jews are following the Jews - the traditions of their fathers - not God. It was already like that when Christ arrived on the scene it is much worse now. Matthew 13:12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. Matthew 19:30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. Those that were first are now last but not without remedy if they will but hear what one of their own said to them 2000 years ago... Emile seems to be on a crusade to reveal the truth about Jews... I think he is over reacting to the "hush order" we have all been ordered to follow in America - never say anything bad about Jews. Speaking against Jews is anti-semitic... even if it is true. Brian
