Hi kholt,
I have been thinking about that too. You and Andrew are right, shadows can have influence.

I am not at all concerned about how GWB looks in the shadow of Ronald Reagan.

Kerry on the other hand looks terrible in the shadow of Teddy Kennedy.

So, Kholt, in your view, the "fact" that this week's "Remembering Reagan" "

. . .may not be a good thing for Bush because it may cause Bush to seem lacking in comparison. . ."

has no particular relevance. It is merely your thought, expressed as a surmise, with no particular significance to the contemporary scene in which Bush is pleased to campaign.

In other words, whatever inference one makes from reading your expressed thought is beside the point, leaving you to continue to think what you think without intending that any one reading it reflect on its relevance to the contemporary scene even though the thought itself refers to the contemporary scene.

Interesting pov to say the least.
