Kerry has nothing to do with the French. What are you talking about? His main buddy in Europe, he told a small gathering of us once, is Tony Blair's Defense Minister. He also knows many world leaders and has an in-depth knowledge of international geo-politics.

This French bit from the rightwing is just a cheap dirty trick. It is meant to stir up rightwing radical zenophobia (fear of foreigners) and is a subtle slur to try somehow to morph Kerry into some kind of suave elitist. It is also a sexist slur on his wife who grew up in French-speaking Mozambique.

In fact Kerry is a true blue bona fide all-American US combat war hero, the real deal. Bush is, by contrast, the true elitist who dodged the draft on family connections and went AWOL when it was his turn to serve. Kerry killed 20+ enemy for his country and Bush didn't even show up for his drug test. Cheney dodged too taking five deferrments saying he had "better things to do".
