The problem is deregulation. same thing happened with the S+L's during (God bless him because he was a nice guy) Reagan's term. Once unleashed, the pigs ran to the trouth and got addicted on fast gouged profits. It became a gluttonous pig-fest. Who cared if it was against the law, Bush and Cheney their best buddies were coming into power.
Enron alone had given them 1.5 mill and james BAker of Reliant was their lawyer who helped them steal the Florida vote. Plus the Saudis and Kuwaits were still plenty grateful for the Gulf War.

Get the idea? The energy pigs have been gouging ever since, except for a brief respite when the Democrats held the Senate. The Iraq invasion was probably all about oil.

This nation has only been saved by McCain and the GOP moderates from a far more rightwing tilt. Bushies also used the 2002 war scare to steal the election and take the senate. One thing they did to steal it was accuse triple amputee war hero Max Cleland of being a traitor.

After that there was no more balance of power. Balance of power is very important in a healthy democracy. Right now, minority rightwing radicals rule. That is the real problem.
We are in trouble if we re-elect these guys. We are in trouble now.
