Yes, that's true. Reagan was such a powerful figure in American politics that his death superceeded everything else on American television. There still were some D-Day rememberances on TV, but they were overshadowed by Reagan. Love him or hate him, Ronald Reagan certainly had quite a personality and connected with the American people during times of uncertainty.
