Ronald Reagan was so annoyed with the UN during his Adm that he stopped paying the USA's portion of support to that sham of an organization. Look it up..it's a fact.

You're putting the cart before the horse. We once had supportive allies in France & Canada, that's not so any longer. We can still count on our most important and stalwart ally...the U.K.--that's more than enough. Their military is excellent. We were relieved when France announced it would not send troops to Iraq. We lose more lives with their help than we save.

It was a disgrace for France to invite the former enemy, Germany, to 60th Anniv Ceremonies for D-Day. France was easily rolled over by Germany during WWII and now they join the former enemy against the policies of the nation that liberated them. That's gratitude from a very confused Jacque Chirac.
