...free trade and a free market dictate how their investments play out. That not really true. Free trade and markets help their investments play out the way they plan, by providing a framework. But, they don't want to just let the randomness of free trade and markets dictate how their trillions of dollars in investments ultimately play out. Which is exactly why the CIA and U.S. military have been so damn busy the past 50 years overthrowing governments, installing and supporting brutal dictators, engaging in wars. It's all about ensuring that those investments play out the way they planned. For example, when Allende in Chile decided he was going to nationalize the mining and telephone inudstries, which would have hurt investments by American firms like ITT and mining companies, it set into motion the events that led to his ouster, via a CIA-sponsered coup in on 9/11/1973. Just one example of many over the past 50 years of how the elites have made sure their investments played out the way they intended them to play out.
