Good article!

With American foreign policy, the major problem is the lack of an informed constituency. Consequently, the American public is dependent on the knowledge imparted by their leaders. When the leaders get it wrong, so does the public. And if their leaders are clever and use nationalism and patriotism as the basis for their actions, the public never questions those actions. And that, of course, is how we got to Iraq.

If we intend to be a world leader, then the American public needs to get better informed.
