Yet, it's not, because the average kid out there (that doesn't live in Silicon Valley) wants to be a sports hero, rather than an inventor. Govt can fix that. Just cap sport salaries. And start instituting early-age programs to nurture a culture of great inventors. Look no further than China for an example of how they promote engineers in their culture, which is influenced by their govt. And maybe Donald Trump's Apprentice show is a good idea - brings celebrity to business - which draws a crowd. Here's a related example of what's wrong with our country. We'll spend $300B on war and associated war costs, yet most people believe there will be another terrorist attack on the USA. If a country valued intelligence and frugality (more than pumping defit money into defense industries that fight geographical wars rather than terrorism), the govt should award a type of QQQ stock option to all employees in the CIA and FBI with a grant price of 2000 (loosely the value of nasdaq). If there is no terrorist attack due to their hard work, they in turn earn a huge award as their options rise. Make it restrictive stock that vests only when there is no terrorist attack in this country. That's what I would do if I were in charge. Make them all rich if they succeed to save our lives & save our country another $300B. bin Laden has stated his goal is to kill 4 million people in the USA. I think Bush needs to think more like a capitalist in order to win this. With potentially 4 million lives on the line, it's absolutely unbelievable to me the director of CIA, who is in charge of protecting all of us, tells Congress it'll take him 5 years to synch up some databases and the like, to get their systems into the 21st century. There's something wrong here. Regards, Amy J
