I think you are cherry picking the worst of the opposing arguments and then painting everyone who disagrees with you as making that argument or as being like the most extreme people who made those arguments. Your not quite attacking a straw man because people did indeed make extreme arguments but the fact that some people made extreme statements in support of Vietnam doesn't say anything about the people making less extreme statements, any more then the fact that some people claimed the the North Vietnamese communist where benevolent and all around wonderful means that everyone who opposed the Vietnam war was a communist or an idiot.
