In my father's case it was genetic, his father and two brothers had aortic aneurysms that burst and killed them. He was in the hospital after being hit in the head with a golf ball when his was discovered back in the 60s. He was sent to Chicago, one of two places that treated them back when, and had a dacron mesh installed from his heart to his knees replacing his aorta. Bought him another 20 years.
