Too bad there are always some who will take advantage of others. I don't think Christianity advocates the "abandonment of material wealth," per say. What it does warn against, is putting money before God; that is Idolatry. Most Churches should pay their pastors more than they do. Most of the big money makers are not even Churches, they are independent money raising scams.
