Sainthood? Good idea. For his beatification, I nominate his defeat of communism as his first miracle and his two decade long economic boom as his second. The Venerable Ronald Wilson Reagan.

<< Discussions of his Presidency and his legacy, both positive and negative, are completely within the realm of acceptable talk.>>

I totally agree but I think it would be nice to let the family get over the shock before adding to it with insults about him...Don't you?

I agree 100% with you!

Yesterday I mentioned that Reagan "destroyed" Nicaragua, a fact that the media never bothered to mention.

Nor did it mention that Reagan sent jetfighters to bomb Lybia's Gadaffi's palace. The mission failed in killing Gadaffi but his six-month old adopted daughter and a number of children were killed. It was most probably responsible for the retaliation that occurred over Lockerbie -----

"(In the evening of December 21st. 1988 flight Pan Am 103 exploded and pieces of the plane fell onto the Scottish town of Lockerbie, killing 259 people on the plane and 11 people on the ground. This air-disaster of the century has now its own homepage on the internet.)"

Gadaffi said he wished Reagan was tried by a court of law for his crime before he went to meet his Maker.

I can go on mentioning instances that show that Reagan was not the honourable guy he was cracked up to be. But that won't do the Reagan worshippers here any good. So, suffice it to say he has incurred considerable negative Karma and his Alzheimer might have been partly or entirely due to it. "Verily, as you sow, so shall you reap."

BTW, politicians and their family enjoy considerable limelight in good times. Their family members should have the fortitude to accept graciously what come their way in bad/not so happy times, too.
