The the Iraq effort is going to be for all practical purposes a Yankee enterprise, even if now formally under UN auspices, because 90+% of the troops will be ours as will 115% of the money.

I think UN involvement is primarily a creature of our domestic election cycle and, to some extent, a genuine effort on Bush's part towards rapprochement with the rest of Youse Guys.

The big loser is undoubtedly Kerry, in my view.
