Sorry, the profile in SI is of my son; I am 65 and was a Navy diver in Viet Nam working in the delta area and in the Saigon vicinity 1963/64. I also did some picket duty off the coast. Was shot at but never hit and did get some severe infections from booby trapping the sewers in Saigon. Not too much in the heroics category as compared to many. I felt after being there for some months that only the Viet Marines were willing to put up a fight- the police were called white mice because they scattered at the merest hint of trouble- for example-- and therefore we might be in a war which was rather dubious. Won't go into all the rest
of my concerns. I was for the first gulf war; but currently think that Bush II does not listen and we are there in the gulf because of his mistakes.
