Great posts!! The Jews have been scapegoats and patterns are repeated. Only people such as yourself, Greg, Hal and Haq, speaking out against bigotry in the name of religion will prevent another holocaust. It may not be against Jews. It may be against a racial minority. "Too many blacks in City Hall," is not much different from too many Asians in our colleges or "too many Jews in Hollywood." It is everyone's duty to speak against bigotry, particularly when it is supposedly backed by religious dogma. As you suggested, some of the very arguments used on this thread were used by Hitler to get support for his "final solution." During economic difficulties, it is always easy to look to a minority that has worked hard to bring themselves to a higher level and blame them for the suffering of others. Jews are doctors, lawyers and entrepreneurs, as they were in Germany in the 1930's, because they were not hired in the midst of discrimination against immigrants early in the 20th century. It's easy also to look to blood libel interpretations of ancient tomes for reason to eliminate a minority. Nothing engenders feelings more than religion. If enough people can be convinced that "it is God's will" to kill a large minority, then there will be a large percentage of "followers" who will perform this crime in the name of God. The perfect example in today's world is the perverted use of the Koran to justify killing and mutilation of Christians and Jews. It is everyone's duty to stop this and to comment. If one hurts a bigot's feelings, only evil worshipers will weep. If only more had stood up to Hitler -----
