1. The large, large majority of blacks have found and continue to find the policies advocated by the Dem Party at the national and state level more compatible with their own definitions of self interest. Witness the voting patterns.

Sure, so far. I did not argue otherwise. But, given the Dems sometime drift to the right themselves, I do question the assessment that they offer African Americans a natural home. Particularly when the Dem drift to the right will create black anger and feelings of betrayal which have already been vented.

A clear eyed assessment will inevitably lead to the black reassessment of their political allegiances, particularly as they make up the economic ladder.

In other words, we will all be GOP in a decade or so. vbg. Get on the train while you can.

2.- The socially liberal, fiscal conservative divide.

Yes, you have a few good points here. For a bunch of reasons that I'm not ready to discuss here, most of which deal with a severe and daunting energy crisis which seems all but inevitable, I am of the opinion that we will have substantial economic dislocation in the next decade or so. People will be voting their pocketbook instead of their conscience. Guess who wins that game? vbg.

3.- Registering to vote. Can't blame the GOP for that, not here anyway since we have driver's license registration. I don't buy this argument.

4.- The GOP is racist. That tired old thing. Not worth discussing. Watch black voters flock to the GOP. Not perhaps in huge numbers, but I guarantee you this will be a trend during this decade. IMO, anyway.
