You're kidding right? Aside from being great at protectionism, MITI's record is quite mixed. MITI didn't think Sony should have bought the rights to the transistor or that it was economic to use them (transistors) in consumer Electronics. MITI didn't think Honda should make automobiles. I seem to recall that MITI also assisted Japanese electronics and computer Companies to build the fastest supercomputers - just as the PC revolution was taking off!
