The same thing can be said for money spent on entertainment or food. Maybe we should fix those first. We can divert money to investment plus lose weight in the process. And maybe even need less health care. That's at least a twofer, maybe a threefer. And we can get some practice with rationing for when we tackle health care, get people acclimated to the culture of ration cards and long lines. A fine demonstration project. Yep, that'll work.

It's a problem if other countries in the globe are doing the same job for half or less the money.

Yugoslavia made cheap cars. Should we have emulated them?

Compare "units of care" per dollar spent, or some other such statistical device, and then you'll see the point Bill was making to you.
