Firstly, they were very well known; and secondly, the personalities had no bearing whatsoever on the matter being asked; and thirdly, I did so want your response to be free of preconceptions. Now Aquinas has far more to say about revealed truth than you; and I think it is fair to say that his belief in the Romans quote was given a far more careful scrutiny than you have the time or talent to give it. That is fair to say, is it not? Now, you have shrieked and screamed over hundreds of posts that people know right from wrong because it is "written on their hearts". When I pointed out the inanity of such a statement...the contradictions and the absurdities it led to...you simply switched to evasion and ad hominem attacks. But Greg...when you diddle with the piper, there is a fee to be paid. Now Aquinas [in addition to being the most illustrious Christian scholar, and the most important Christian dogmatist} was also a strong supporter of the inequality of persons and of the lack of Rights of certain inferior persons {the Institution of SLAVERY to be exact}. As well, he voiced support for death as a just punishment for those Christians whom dared to change their minds about the Christian faith. Now these issues are not peccadilloes. They are grave moral issues which involve the most ethical extremes imaginable. But you wish us to believe that the right thing to do was written on the heart of Thomas Aquinas , but that he CHOSE to be EVIL and to LIE and to influence the death, torture, and slavery of millions of people. You want us to believe that this immense scholar who lived and died to discover Truth, willfully committed these evils? Hogwash** I think it is obvious that the knowledge of right and wrong was NOT written on his heart...and neither on his ear or his nose. He believed in all sincerity that there was an Absolute morality and that reason and faith were interlinked for the purposes of God. There can be ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that he WANTED TO DO WHAT WAS RIGHT and that he WANTED TO GO TO HEAVEN; and there can be ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that he supported what was unethical and cruel. Now try to figure out where that leaves your crackerjack box theory**LOLOLOL**
