First AA Supreme Court Justice - Clarence Thomas I gather you skipped class on the day they had the lecture on Thurgood Marshall. What a long, long drop down from Marshall to Thomas. And who nominated Marshall for the Court? As for Colin Powell, he's everyone's choice. Clinton tried to get him for his cabinet. So I wouldn't count him at all. As for Rice, I'll give you that one. One of these days we'll have to have a serious assessment of her tenure, but she's definitely black. But this has nothing to do with anything. My point is not that Bush is a racist. My point is that the national Republican party has, as a part of its base, racist elements in the country. Well known. Not even debatable. It's one of the crucifixes it carries. Whoops, did I actually type "crucifixes?" I just got back from a meeting of the local library board. Great group of people. And I'm a bit juiced.
