Brian has a sense of humor. But he could use you as a backup. ;-) But then, of course, he would have had to admit that Clinton appointed the second. So there you go.

Nope, I repeat. I'm not arguing that. I'm arguing the Rep base, necessarily, depends on some racist elements and that leads Rep politicos to have to make some dramatic decisions. McCain decided against pandering to them; Bush did not. Bush pandered to them in the affirmative action supreme court case, over the apparent objections of Rice and Powell but in accord with his solicitor general, whose name escapes me at the moment. Pandering to them is not being racist; but it's certainly not being courageous either. McCain is the gold standard here.
