I'm nitpicking a bit for some fun. But you said that

We probably have a diffent view of what "very well" is. Their "centrally planned and controlled economy" has been pretty flat during a long boom run for the U.S. My view is that when the folks are allowed to prosper (like in the U.S.), they will. I'm no expert on Japan, and mostly taking your contention that "centrally planned and controlled economy" is accurate. Doesn't sound good to me, and hope we don't go further along that direction. I think our governemnt should protect us so we can make the business wheels go on our own.
