Contrast Reagan with GW Bush who seems actively to like Putin. In June 2001, after the two presidents met in Slovakia, he declared, "I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. . . . I was able to get a sense of his soul." Bush later said that he liked Putin because the Russian spoke of "a higher power." Few others have detected Christian impulses in Putin, a product of the atheistic Communist system.
