Maybe the Republican Party should align its platform promises to what it actually does: "we promise to increase spending and grow the deficit."

They have been deceiving people for many years, as you know.

The Republicans certainly share the blame for spending increases but they haven't controled the government for 16 of the last 24 years. Republicans only had the presidency combined with control of both houses of congress for a small part of those 24 years, and for no part of the all the years before that but after FDRs election in 1932. Government spending grew faster during many of those year then it did in the last 24.
