Aspiring Playboy model Genevieve Gowman is circulating a copy of a marriage license showing she was legally wed to the diminutive actor who played Mini-Me in the "Austin Powers" films, disputing his claims they were never husband and wife. Court documents obtained by Reuters on Thursday also show that the 5-foot-6-inch Gowman is seeking spousal support from the 2-foot-8-inch Verne Troyer as part of a divorce filing in March that cites irreconcilable differences Troyer, who played the pint-sized look-alike protege of Dr. Evil (played by actor Mike Myers), said through his lawyer last week there was no valid marriage between himself and Gowman. But a copy of a "license and certificate of confidential marriage" dated January 22 appears to show that the pair did marry in a ceremony presided over by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard Stone, whose signature appears on the form. Gowman's attorney, Evan Itzkowitz, said the marriage took place in Stone's courtroom "following a 45-minute conversation about marriage" in the judge's chambers." Itzkowitz said the couple also exchanged wedding rings after their marriage and that a second ceremony for family and friends was planned for Valentine's Day (news - web sites) but never happened. Instead, Troyer, 35, filed papers February 23 seeking an annulment on the basis of an "unsound mind" and "fraud." The documents to not make clear the grounds for his claims. His lawyer, Fred Silberberg, declined to elaborate but has said Gowman's claims are financially motivated. But Itzkowitz said it is Troyer who is financially motivated, suggesting a marriage to Gowman "possibly affects a contract he signed with NBC." The television network reportedly gave the go-ahead late last year for development of a half-hour reality show, titled "Life Is Too Short", chronicling the day-to-day life of Troyer, who has earned a reputation as a frequent patron of Los Angeles-area hot spots. Gowman, 31, who goes by the professional name of Genevieve Gallen, has filed a motion seeking financial information from Troyer, including a copy of the NBC contract, but Troyer is seeking to keep that information confidential. A hearing on the matter is set for June 17. Troyer has worked in Hollywood for about a decade, getting his first break as a stunt double for an infant in the film "Baby's Day Out". Gowman's official Web site shows the model posed for several photos in swimwear and says she hopes to one day be featured as a Playboy centrefold.
