Thanks much. Very helpful description. I think I will look into adding an external hard drive. That seems like the easiest way.

I don't think I want to try partitioning because I am afraid I would screw something up. I've never done that and I don't know anything about it.

I do make backups of my complete "My Documents" folder onto a CD about once a month. I only use my computer for home use so there is really not a lot of valuable data on it. I'm more concerned that some day my hard drive will crash and I will have to spend days and days trying to reload all my programs and getting everything set up again the way I want it. So, it seems like a drive image would give me some insurance and be a good investment.
