The legitimacy of the Saudi family...

Among other things Al-Qauida is a fundamentalist movement. The movement is critical of the Saudi families corrupt behavior within Saudi Arabia and especially in relation to foreign affairs. At the top of the foreign affairs criticism is the relationship Saudi Arabia now has with the USA that keeps it from having any influence on the tragic disintegration of the Palestinian culture. Palestine and especially Jerusalem is fundamentally important to Al-Quaida.

Saudi Arabia has the wealth of the world in its hands but because it is reaching and clawing for western style material wealth, the oil wealth has ran through its fingers and into our pots. The Saudis have become totally dependant for western goods and services and have become heavily indebted in the process. Their outstreched greedy hands are tied.

However the Saudi legitimacy to rule stems from a fundamentalist belief that they are ruling according to Islamic ordainment. I suspect the home office of Al-Quaida is composed of Saudis who intend to coup the political power from their relatives and inhabit the palace in the future. It would not make sense for them to destroy the wealth of a Kingdom that the intend to rule over. In addition, just like we are learning in Iraq, the existing political representatives know how to run a country. It is the Saudi extended family who are the educated, skilled, and affluent in the country and who live in every western city of the world. Without them the population would find them selves wandering the desert fighting with each other over dates and pomegranets to survive.

If Al-Qauida is to succeed in Saudi it wont be by destroying what exists it will be via a coup of power. Assassinations and mini-insurgencies until the general population falls in line to support Ossama Bin Ladin (a Saudi) or the like.

The Saudi family is making efforts to clean up its image but I don't know if that is possible...

I could be wrong about all that but we will see within the next few months.
