Someone mentioned yesterday that Athlon XP prices seem to be falling. I notice this now from Fry's ads. Its not just XPs, but also 2.8GHz Prescotts.

2.8GHz/533 FSB(!) 1M L2 Prescott boxed with ECS(?) mobo $150
Athlon XP 2700+ boxed with DFI NF2-400AL mobo $120
Athlon XP 2600+ bare with ECS NForce2 400 mobo $85

The ECS motherboards probably cost Fry's at least $35, and the DFI around $45.

Lowest pricewatch prices on these CPUs only are $167 (Northwood box), $104 (2700 box) and $67 (2600 bare).

So the lowest Pricewatch prices are being undercut by $52 (Intel 2.8), $29 (2700 box) and $17 (2600 bare).

They're also selling a 1.6 GHz non-existent Duron Linux PC for $150.

BTW, I don't see any 2.8 GHz 533 FSB Prescotts on pricewatch at all. This must be a new low for Prescott performance from Intel.
