If you understood "religion" you probably wouldn't call it bigotry. Personally, while not a "churchgoer" constantly, (more of a C&E'r)...I feel there is a difference in man-made religion, and religion. I consider Nature to be a religion.

This nation was founded on the principal of "freedom OF religion" *NOT "freedom FROM religion."

I think it is a high form of bigotry to insist that we abandon 'religion' .....

<<<Ronald Reagan, August 23, 1984: "Without God, there is no virtue,...>>>

My understanding is that Ronald Reagan rarely attended church during his time in office. Ronald Reagan, if nothing else, was the most courteous and most civil person. I can't imagine that he would be in anyone's face disputing the validity of someone else's definition of God - so long as they were sincere in their beliefs.

I am assuming that when he speaks of God (as President of the United States) he was speaking and using the broadest definition of God. Something that we can all subscribe to.

Something that we can all agree - that there is more to life than just our being - and that it is self evident that there is order in the universe (of some kind) - and that there is good and evil.

Even though I differ with Ronald Reagan on many policy issues, I can not fault him as a good and decent human being. When a genuinely good person is President of the United States, good things can happen.

I am not a Pollyana type. I don't believe everyone is a good and decent human being.
