The key element in the story is "tagged." It wasn't hidden stuff that was smuggled out, it was stuff UNMOVIC had tagged, that was looted.

The US did not invade Iraq over tagged stuff that was sitting in warehouses, it was over things we thought he was still hiding.

In other words, we have yet more egg on our faces for failing to prevent wholesale looting of potentially dangerous items that prior to the invasion were being kept in a safe place, and are now who-knows-where.

It is, of course, deeply ironic that the invasion has caused these dangerous items to go onto the black market.

The NYT has published the story but has surely not given it any emphasis. So what else is new:

You true believers are such an incredible bunch of whiners if stories aren't put out just the way you want it. The story in #reply-20212755 was listed as Late Edition - Final , Section A , Page 1 , Column 2 . It's always something, though. I guess the Times should always run the day's news by Karl Rove first, for final edit and proper placement. Or maybe they should just stick to White House press releases, for "truth" purposes.
