Btw, in the summer of 1978 while vacationing in France, and tensions were high over Algerian immigrants, a government employee in Paris made the most gratuitous anti-semitic remark to me that I can recall in any of my travels at any time, anywhere. And he didn't even know my name. Do I attribute it to his Frenchness? No. Should I? Hmm...

There are people in France from all kinds of backgrounds. He could have been one of the German French. But that said why try to attribute anything to a race?

No one is at fault for being born a Protestant, Irish, Jew. And these attributes rarely are cause for one to discriminate against someone else. That is learned behavior. The best way to end it is to stop practicing it and teaching it to young impressionable ones.
