Kuba was assassinated in Al-Adhamiya district in Baghdad, a Sunni Muslim neighborhood where support for Saddam Hussein's regime had been strong. Attackers fired at the car of top civil servant in the ministry as he was on his way to work and fatally wounded him. Kuba died of his wounds in the hospital at about 8.30 a.m. (0430GMT).
