It is very sad to hear of your grandfather's illness, but nursing homes in general are a total disgrace.
It is a shame to put a human being in one of these institutions, but once they reach a certain age, and demand around the clock care, it is impossible to keep them at home.

I'm confused.

The left wants more government, cradle to grave care for everyone.

Yet, who wants more of what we already got?

The liberal mind is a terrible thing....

You realize, that the VA System, just may be the the best National Health Care System in the world?

My guess, is that given health care is a limited resource, and is usually rationed in some manner (in all countries), with age often being a reason (in other countries) for denying treatment.

Mr. Bush is giving shabby service to men who actually served their country in combat.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, but one case, one state does not represent the treatment of our Vets throughout the country, and certainly President Bush, if you want facts, has done more for the Vets in three years than Clinton, who balanced the budget on the backs of the Veterans and the military, during his entire 8 years in office. President Bush has increased the VA medical budget 28% in his three budgets, up from prox $23 billion, during Clinton, to almost $30 billion in next years budget. The VA, under Bush, is being re-organized to improve the care and reduce the waiting time for a Vet to see a doctor from up to 6 months under Clinton to 30 days or less in emergency situations. The VA is building new facilities nearer tne veteran population , and opening many new out-patient facilities to be more convenient for vets who do not require in-patient care. If, as you claim, your grandfathers care is substandard, put the blame where it belongs on Clinton, NOT BUSH, as Clinton did nothing, absolutely nothing, for the Veterans during his tenure in office. You should remember. The Clintons had nothing but contempt for the Veterans and the men and women in the military. Congress, because the military was loosing their highly trained men to the public sector, passed a law that military pay should be commensurate with equal skills on the 'outside'. Under Bush41 the discrepancy in pay was reduced to a minus 5%. Under Clinton the discrepancy in pay soared to 13%. Under Bush43 the Military has had 3 increases in pay and a huge investment in new bases, homes and other facilities.

KM
PS If your relatives treatment is so poor the VA has an Ombundsman to speak for you and he. Call them

I am surprised to hear that. My brother uses the VA and my neighbor uses the VA. Both RAVE about the care. We live here in S. Fla. The VA even sends A BUS to pick them up for their appointment if they dont wish to drive!! All prescriptions are FREE. Even eyeglasses. They have been BUGGING me to go to the VA claiming its better then they ever got privately. We have a BRAND NEW VA hospital here in S. Fla. jdn

VA Budget has increased almost 20% since Bush took office. And the veteran population has declined.
