All Canadian Diamonds Mine are 100's of meters below surface.They found Diamonds on Surface because of the rapid explosions below surface that brought them up close to the surface of the earth like a Volcano.

Heat and Pressure as in Carbon form Diamonds from Hundreds of miles below surface
