do know that it's not the kind of war where you want to leave without tying up the loose ends, killing or capturing the leaders and rebuilding the country that you've invaded. We've done neither in Afghanistan.

It really isn't fair to suggest we've made no progress, or even just a little progress, against Al Qaeda. We HAVE caught and killed numerous leaders .. not bin Laden, but many others. We HAVE disrupted their ability to communicate, organize, and plan -- which makes us safer (if you believe 9/11 required a lot of planning, certainly you must believe a bigger attack would require even MORE planning and organization). We have destroyed training camps in many locations -- admitted, those can be rebuilt. And we *HAVE* made funding more difficult. Not enough, but some cells have been broken up. And we certainly have more information today than before.

We HAVE made major progress. The problem for Bush, of course, is that he can never do so to the satisfaction of the Left, and he is not the kind of political animal that braggs on his achievements.

It is a little frustrating to me, just as being a shareholder in XM Satellite Radio is. XM is DESTROYING, in ALL RESPECTS, its competitor Sirius. Yet, Sirius braggs about nonexistent achievements, gets pumped up by the hype, and its price reacts positively -- even though XM is silently destroying Sirius in the marketplace. XM's management says, "Hey, we'll do our job and the pps will take care of itself.". I think Bush is saying, "Hey, I'm going to do my job and the political aspects will take care of themselves..."
