Dont you ever forget that Mc Carthy was a Democrat.McCarthy's campaign against Soviet infiltration eventually became derailed, and "McCarthyism" became a derogatory term. But, coincidentally, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, formerly top-secret Kremlin files have now been made public. We now know despite a lifetime of protesting his innocence, Alger Hiss was a Soviet agent, and that the British, American and Canadian government establishments were riddled with Soviet spies. So were the arts, which is ironic, since artists demand freedom, but artistic freedom was forbidden in the Soviet Union and its satellites.
