The purpose of the media is the same as that of a divorce lawyer: They turn friendly jabs into bar room brawls.

<For in the end, if we turn everything over to the UN like Kerry wants, we can pretty well be assured that we will no longer be safe, and instead will have the same type of car bombs, sniping, kidnapping, murders that have been prevalent in so much of the world....all in the name of jihad. >

On the contrary KLP, if you don't do something different, you'll get more of what you've had so far.

A good definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Unless the USA goes for Empire, which makes the foundations of the American war of Independence looks dodgy, we will continue to operate on the Arabian Nights version of geopolitical relationships. Alliances and foreign adventure will be perpetual. Such alliances and competition for power led to WWI.

As the cliche goes, those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I don't believe that John Kerry has suggested turning everything over to the UN to run the USA and rest of world. I don't think people are expecting a Kremlin style UN to be handed a global central planning socialist system to tell us all everything we can do. I'm in favour of Libertarian-style NUN.

Such a Libertarian NUN would be a lot better than the socialist USA run by Bush cronies running the world without human rights [for the rest of us] and without democratic input from We the Sheeple.

Americans who actually understand what freedom and democracy mean would be able to understand that a Libertarian NUN promoted by the USA would be a good thing for Americans and the rest of us.

It seems that while Bush is in power, we'll have more of the same and keep trying to do the same old things, expecting different results. Neither he nor Saddam could see outside their personal vendetta and lust for power. Both sought unbridled power.
