I am of the opinion that this Administration is much more aware of what the oil supply / demand situation may be and this factored strongly into the need to liberate Iraq and develop their resources. I think the rapid increase in demand this year just brought the period of reckoning forward a year or two earlier than anticipated. I suspect we are very close to peak oil production and the consequences will unfold themselves slowly as we crest along this peak for the next few years.
