Seems to me that one thing that keeps holding the US buck up is it's role as "world currency".

Every one, especially the Asians, keeps hoarding the clownbuck trusting (I assume!) that they will be able to exchange those dollars for something worthwhile in the future.

The "catch 22" situation is that as soon as they try to exchange the "value" of the US dollar for anything worthwhile in any meaningful way the US dollar value will evaporate.

The question for Gold valuation seems to be how long can this situation - Asians hoarding US dollars - continue?
