Re: it is funny that a single stick can span the entire memory span supported by 32 bit processors.

Opterons, P4s, and Athlon FX's use DIMMS in pairs.

A 32-bit CPU can only access half the capacity of a 4GB DIMM, as installed on those machines.

Single threaded windows applications, with their 2GB (1.8 effective) process limit can use less than a quarter of the capacity of those DIMMs.
