I'm fairly sure that under any other leader, Italy would not have done what it did.

So as long as the "leaders" are cooperating with US interests, they are goood. Else, they are baad.

Viva Italia!!! How can anyone dislike Italy? The French? Yes, easy to dislike.

My grandpa was a Parmigiano (Parma, a pretty socialistic, yet one of the richest towns in Italy). And I don't like the French very much. But honestly, I don't care about passports so much.

But war, real war, is a different thing. It has to be last resort. Not a long time planned target based on a "opportunity" (9/11, trademark C. Rice)

The French? Yes, easy to dislike. The Russians, a little less than the French. But the Italians? How can anyone dislike them?>>

What a totally sophomoric observation IMO. From a teenager I'd expect something like this......mon dieu!!! I've been to all three countries and I've met wonderful people in them all.

I'm betting I wouldn't be going too far out on a limb by suggesting a lot of the "experts" on this thread haven't set foot on foreign soil.......just a guess!

Of the three nations that you mentioned......the overwhelming majority of people that I met there LIKE Americans. The overwhelming majority that I met DO NOT like this ADMINISTRATION (big difference)......therein lies the rub, as it were.

Italy is definitely my favorite of the three but I'm betting you wouldn't be so enamored with them if their policy with regards to Iraq was what the overwhelming majority of their public want!

If part of your rationale for finding it impossible not to like Italians is because of the richness of their artistic children, how then could you hate a country that produced the likes of Monet, Cezanne, Renoir?!?!?!

MON.
