I've never seen the Manchurian Candidate, but I just put the new version in my queue at netflix. Maybe I should watch the old Manchurian Candidate just to get up to speed?

The left screamed about the right's admonishment of the RR story CBS (or was it HBO...I didn't watch?) played a few months ago in prime time.

When it comes to portraying one of their own icons in a less than flattering light they get all protective too. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the two parties. In any event......there is too much meanness out there.

I highly recommend the original, which was made in 1962. Very chilling, very disturbing. After the JFK assasination, Frank Sinatra bought up the rights and moth-balled the movie out of respect for the Kennedy family. It was finally released about ten years ago.

It has been about five or six years since I saw it. If I recall correctly, Angela Lansbury today looks pretty much the same as she did in 1962.
