Do you think that the motives and actions you attribute to the French and Russians in their Iraq dealings don't apply just as accurately to America in many of our past dealings in the Gulf and in our present dealings in Iraq?

Turn that around. Do you think the French and Russians want to see a democracy, fledgling or not, created in the Mid-East?

Do you think they wanted to stand the possibility of any new Iraqi government telling them to stuff their $50 Billion in Iraqi debt up their @ss?

And do you think it's right that any new Iraqi government, hopefully elected by its soveriegn people, should be obligated to pay any such debt, when it was effectively a "personal loan" collateralized by Saddam's continued existence in power??

As a second point, why is it that you insist on attacking the motives of those nations who said that America's purported reasons for attacking and occupying Iraq were specious? The fact is that whatever their motives their assertions were accurate and ours reasons WERE specious.

What's amazing is that have nothing but praise for France and Russia, and apparently all the other nations that sought to use a UN sanctioned Oil for Food program for their own personal financial benefit.

I've not seen one inkling of outrage on your part over that. Potentially $10-20 BILLION in embezzled funds that should have gone to the Iraqi people, not some two-bit dictator. Billions in poor-quality food and medical supplies shipped to Iraq.

No moral outrage on your part.. None.. not an ounce from what I've seen.

And certainly no outrage at France and Russia's cynical attempt to use UNSC sanctions against Iraq as a leverage point in advancing their own oil interests with Saddam's regime. They were willing to support sanctions as leverage over Saddam to cut oil deals with them. But Saddam expected them to block any attempt by the UNSC to have him overthrown for non-compliance with his cease-fire obligations.

Dude.. if you can't see the direct correlation to how we've wound up in Iraq, either containing, or overthrowing Saddam, while France and Russia have used us (and the UN) as pawns for their own political and economic agenda, then you really should think about moving out of this country.

Because it's people like you who are going to let these people like Chirac and Putin really put our economic and national security interests at risk.

This isn't some high school debate issue; real American soldiers and others are dying every day and they'll continue to die until we get it right.

You're DAMN RIGHT this isn't some kind of game... It's American servicemen putting their lives on the line, not French or Russian.

Get your priorities straight pal.. Of just move to Paris and stick your head up Chirac's forth point of contact.

Promoting democracy where we can, and when it is necessitated by US national and economic security is NEVER "specious".

But undermining the UNSC, and international law for the purpose of running interference on behalf of some despotic regime IS.
