Mq...People like Charles Rangle are trying to promote the draft He's not the only Democrat that is trying to do the same thing.

Is that what you think he's doing?

The "threat" of the draft is simply a way to make "Mom" think about whether preemptive wars of choice, like the one in Iraq, are really worth sending THEIR sons and daughters to die in. As it stands I suspect that too many Americans tend to think that it's no big deal since "someone else who volunteered" will be paying the price.

Of course I may have developed a slanted view from reading the views of some of our posters here.

KLP, since conscription is a socialist idea where the individual is just a pawn for the leaders of the collective, I'm not at all surprised that Democrats are in favour of conscription.

Republicans are also in favour of conscription because they think the proletariat are just pawns to be used to serve the upper class.

Libertarians think individuals should decide whether they sign up to something or not so are against conscription.

Mqurice

PS: I understand that not all Republicans and Democrats or Libertarians think like that. It's a generalisation.
