But what of the Chinese pull that's currently lifting the prices of raw materials and ores worldwide? Steel went up from $50 a ton to $300 over the past 12 months alone... So much so that even European steel plants that were deemed too expensive a year ago are now being reopened... just to supply the Chinese market!! South Africa as an ore-rich country must certainly be a prime target for hungry Chinese industries: gold, copper for space and electronics, uranium, cobalt, diamonds,... Don't worry, Searle: the Chinese are gonna bail you out.
